Cumulus 2.5 offers a new plug-in interface to allow customization of the method used to resolve the file references. The file reference to an original file is resolved whenever Cumulus accesses the file and not only the record in the database to perform actions on it like editing or copying.
Cumulus has a built-in resolver method that corresponds to the method used in previous versions of the software. By installing external Resolver modules you can change the method used to find the original files.
When a file reference is to be resolved Cumulus first calls all the external Resolver modules in alphabetical order. If none of them was able to locate the file Cumulus uses the built-in Resolver.
Installing External Resolver Modules
External Resolver modules are stored in a folder called “Resolvers” in the Cumulus application folder. They are loaded when the application is launched. If you want to remove an external Resolver module just move the Resolver module out of the “Resolvers” folder and restart your Cumulus application.
About the OPI Resolver
There is one special external Resolver module called "OPI Resolver" which is called after the file has been located. The OPI Resolver only has effect when editing and printing the image file using the coresponding menu commands from the "Record" menu. Its purpose is to find the high resolution file if the file found was an OPI sample file. The OPI Resolver module supports the following OPI Systems: Helios EtherShare OPI, Adobe ColorCentral, 4Sight OPI, LinoPrint, IPT GetThePicture, and Nine Bits PrintDesk. If you do not use one of the above OPI Systems you should remove the OPI Resolver module (see above).
About the Full Path Resolver
This Resolver Module tries to find the original file using the full pathname of the file. Because it ignores all other information of the file reference like the file server zone name and the file server name it can be used when the type of volume the file is on has changed or the file has been removed and restored on a volume. You should not install the Full Path Resolver when you have volumes mounted that have duplicate names. In this case the Resolver will find the file on any of the volumes.
